Diamonds ready to take on Silver Ferns in Sydney
By Netball Australia
The Australian Diamonds have learnt from their nine-goal defeat at the hands of the World Selection and are ready to take on the New Zealand Silver Ferns. Despite coach Norma Plummer`s growing injury toll she is confident the younger players will step up to the challenge. "This is a great opportunity for the younger players to gain this experience," Plummer said in a press conference in Sydney today. "They have this chance and they are never going to get it any younger." Diamonds vice-captain Natalie von Bertouch is still a 50/50 chance to play in the Sydney clash with Plummer happy about how the centre pulled up this morning. "Natty has pulled up a lot better today but we will have to go through another series of tests with her. "She is still a 50/50 chance. "We want to make sure the breathing is right and that she is capable when things get physical." However Plummer does have a back-up plan if the Diamonds suffer from further injury woes. "Well we have three out … Let’s touch wood the rest of them are alright otherwise i`ll be stripping." The Diamonds take on the Silver Ferns on Sunday at Acer Arena, 12noon. As the day falls on Father`s Day every dad attending the match will recieve a yellow Diamonds scarf. For tickets visit www.ticketek.com.au
