Aiken joins World Selection for Holden Netball Test Series

Five players have been added to the World Selection team to take on the Australian Diamonds in the Holden Netball Test Series on Wednesday 2 September at ETSA Park, including Jamaican shooting sensation Romelda Aiken.

Aiken, named as the 2009 ANZ Championship Most Valuable Player, will add strength and height to the World Selection shooting circle. Other inclusions are Samoan Cathrine Latu and New Zealanders Debbie White, Wendy Telfer and Vilimaina Davu.

With Southern Steel coach Robyn Broughton at the helm, the team comprises of Jamaican, English, Samoan and New Zealand athletes; bringing to the game an exciting collaboration of the different styles and talents of each netball nation.

The world-class defensive combination of English representatives Geva Mentor and Sonia Mkoloma will pose a challenge for the Diamonds who will be using the match against the World Team to kick-start their 2009 international campaign.

The Diamonds match against the World Selection is the first game of the Holden Netball Test Series. The Series then continues with Tests in Sydney (Sunday 6 September), Melbourne (Wednesday 9 September) and Brisbane (Sunday 13 September) against arch-rivals the New Zealand Silver Ferns.
