Game Report: Victoria has continued their superb tournament form, defeating Western Australia, 36-27 in the seventh and final round of the 19/U DealsDirect.com.au Netball Championships. The exciting nine goal win cements VIC on the top of the ladder and favourites to take out the 19/U title. WA started the game on top, scoring the first two goals of the match. However, strong pressure by the VIC defence resulted in WA missing crucial goals under the ring. VIC Kelsey Browne (WA) dominated with her speed in the midcourt helping VIC get off to a four goal lead at the end of the first quarter. The opening five minutes of the second quarter saw WA with all the momentum, building their way to be within one goal before VIC called injury time. After the break, WA scored two more goals getting in front of VIC for the first time in the match thrilling the WA crowd. Both teams went goal for goal throughout the quarter. VIC scored a late turnover which saw them go two goals up into the main break 16-18. Changes by VIC at half time saw the game break open in the third quarter. Accurate shooting and positive encouragement by VIC shooter Stephanie Puopolo helped VIC extend to a seven goal lead at three quarter time. WA refused to wilt in the last quarter, going goal for goal with the tournament favourites. In the end, WA couldn’t match the all-court pressure of VIC.
