Game Report: Western Australia has defeated Australian Capital Territory, 35-27, in Round 4 of the 19/U DealsDirect.com.au National Championship. WA came out hard and fast all over the court with Alice Coakley took some excellent intercepts for WA in goal keeper. What looked to be an easy game for WA in the beginning changed half way through the first quarter when ACT fought back hard. Not willing to let the WA team get away from them, they fired back to be only one goal down at quarter time. The second quarter saw a revived WA take the court. WA wing attack Samara Pluschke was quick off line at centre passes, and Hayley Reid and Lisa Kaye worked well as a team in the ACT goal circle with quick sharp passes. Reid applied pressure all over court, while goal keeper Amy Morshel was tight on the WA goalies. Going into the second half WA were four goals ahead. Reid intercepted the first centre pass firing up the ACT team. WA goalies Denise Shepley and Sophie Kotsecki were accurate all game, while the centre court worked well together, and Coakley continued to take intercepts throughout the match. In the last quarter ACT closed the gap to just three goals, but were unable to catch the quick WA side. WA powered ahead to win the match by eight goals. The final score was 35-27.
