Game Report: Victoria has recorded a dominant 16-goal win against Queensland in Round 2 of the DealsDirect.com.au 19/U National Netball Championship. QLD won the centre pass, however an intercept in the first minute saw VIC’s Nicole Lindley score the first goal. VIC defenders Mary Livesey and Micaela Wilson worked hard all quarter to cover QLD goal shooter Rosie Tone who positioned herself well in the goal circle. The VIC attack line worked the ball into their goal circle well helping them to take a six-goal lead into quarter time. In the second quarter QLD goal defence Chanel Gomes took three consecutive intercepts within the first half of the quarter. However, VIC’s dominance all over the court meant they increased their lead to 14 at half time. QLD made changes in their goal circle at half time and with good defence work, they came close to being within 10 goals of VIC. The VIC team fought back in the second half of the quarter and extended the gap further to go into the last quarter 16 goals up. QLD came out strong again in the first half of the last quarter, but VIC stayed calm and composed to hold their lead. Despite the tense battle both teams showed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the game. VIC was too strong in the end, taking the win by 16 goals, 40-24.
